100% - It’s Janie’s Birthday!
Dear Janie,
It’s hard to believe that it’s been only eight years ago since you were born. Life before Janie? Hard to remember, but I know there were fewer hugs, fewer giggles, and far less girly goofiness in our world!
Special things about you? Currently, you’re sporting a very unique bang hairstyle of your own making that you’re managing beautifully with clips and bobby pins. You have a quick, delightful smile and a generous sprinkle of angel kisses on your cheeks and nose. A personal highlight – you’re my only grandchild who can blow a bubble with her pink Double Bubble chewing gum. (I’m so proud!)
One of the first things you look for when you come to our house is new craft kits. You’re a creative – drawing, painting, taping. And that love of “making stuff” flows out of the craft room and into the kitchen where you enjoy making simple dishes and being the cook’s helper. One better – this year, you fell in love with washing dishes. God is good!
Games? Did anyone say “games?” Bingo, cards, dice games? You’re up for it. And being small gives you all kinds of advantages when the Nerf guns come out. No one else can fit in all the tiny hiding places – and still load a Nerf gun with as much stealth as you.
You are so social! You love team sports, and it’s yet to be determined if you love the sports or the teammates best. Soccer is still “your” sport, but we’ll see what you think at the end of your first softball season. You never know…
If you’re not playing or practicing a sport, you’re very likely on a playdate or hosting a playdate. Rarely are you alone. At family gatherings, you’re either knee-deep in giggles and silliness with your girl cousins or in the thick of the rough-and-tumble with your boy cousins.
You charge into each day at 100%! You create, you play hard, you have all the fun, you run, you laugh, you love like crazy. And then you sleep.
You’re not just a people person. You’re observant, compassionate, inclusive, and kind. Proverbs 17:22a says, “A joyful heart is good medicine…” And the Lord knows we could use more of that. Celebrating joyful you today, Janie! Happy birthday!
