Celebrating 365 Days of Janie!
Dear Janie,
Sometimes, what you get far exceeds what you could have ever expected! We all expected the arrival of a precious bundle of pink wonder last May. What we got -- surprise! several days early -- was a special delivery of the sweetest variety!
Today, we celebrate 365 days of YOU, Miss Janie! And each day has held some new joy or delight to warm our hearts and make us laugh. It seems that early on, you were determined to continue with the "surprise" theme as your hair began to grow -- and stand on end! Your blue-as-the-ocean eyes and a happy-to-see-you smile would appear, and your whole face would proclaim, "Surprise!" That is your usual expression every day, but your hair has calmed down. :)
You're thrilled to be Mama's girl, Dada's girl, and Everly's baby sister. You watch her every move to make sure you learn everything from her that you can. You're her little cheerleader, smiling and squawking as you share sister love with her. You have been the perfect addition to your sweet family, and you're treasured and enjoyed -- as you should be.
As you've grown, your adorable baby smile has changed a bit. You're very proud of those new teeth, and you want to show them off! And -- another surprise! -- they're pretty handy at meal time, too! You're in the middle of experiencing new tastes and textures, and it's a grand adventure!
Your entire countenance is blooming with curiosity and contentment. You want to know about new things, about new sounds, about new people. Everything is amazing to you! Some babies reach up with open arms to be held. But not you, precious Jaybird. When you want to be picked up, you fold your hands and lift them up in a posture of prayerful gratitude. If you ever wanted to melt Milly's heart, you've found the secret...
On the occasion when I get to hold and snuggle my little Jaybird at the close of a long day, you rest in my arms and sing a lullaby to yourself. If I knew the words, I'd gladly join in. But for today, I'll just let you sing, and I'll thank God for your little lovesong. I'll thank Him for the last 365 days and the joy that only you could bring to them!
Happy first birthday, Janie Kathryn!
Always loving you with all of my heart,
Milly
