It’s All Absolutely True!

I’m pretty sure I walk away from my pre-K friends at church on Sunday mornings with a full cup – maybe even overflowing a little. 😊

There’s something about taking a topic that’s so complicated when adults discuss it that seems crystal clear when you break it down into kid-speak.

This week was one of those weeks, and the topic was “heaven.”

One kiddo – “God” - sat in a chair on one side of the room – “heaven.”

One kiddo – “us” – sat in a chair on the opposite side of the room – “earth.”

“God” wore a sad face because “we” were so far away from Him.

Enter “Jesus,” Who left “God’s” side in “heaven” to go to “us” on “earth” to tell “us” that “God” loves “us” and wants “us” to be in “heaven” with Him forever. All “we” had to do was believe that “God” loved “us” and follow “Jesus.”

“We” got up and followed “Jesus” to “God” in “heaven,” where He joined their hands and everyone celebrated!

And goodness gracious, that’s the gospel!

Then we looked at pictures and made determinations – is this a picture that shows heaven or shows here?

A crying child? Here. Because the Bible says there are no tears in heaven, and the Bible is absolutely true!

Streets made of gold? How fancy is that?! Heaven. Because the Bible says it’s so, and the Bible is absolutely true!

A little buddy with a skinned, bloodied knee? Here. No pain in heaven! That’s what the Bible says, and it’s absolutely true!

A beautiful throne with a forever King? Heaven! The Bible promises it, and God always keeps His promises!

At their young ages, my little friends are smart enough to know that bad things like illness, sadness, loneliness, fear, and death don’t exist where God lives.

They know that happiness, love, beauty, light, and a good King wait for those who love Jesus.

They know that Jesus is in heaven, but one day God will give us the best surprise! Jesus will come back, riding a white horse on the clouds! And He’ll bring heaven with Him! It’s in the Bible, and it’s absolutely true!

When every child had left the classroom and the last of the spilled goldfish crackers was swept up, I turned off the lights, picked up my purse and Bible, and headed to my truck. Spring storm clouds were bubbling up in the sky, and all I could think after such a sweet morning with “my” kids was, “Lord, come quickly!”

“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True…On His robe and on His thigh He has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS…Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He Who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then He said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” – Revelation 19:11a, 11:16, 21:1-6

It’s all in the Bible, and it’s absolutely true!
