One Prayer - Endless Wonder

I caught a friend’s posting of a reel on social media the other day that really got to me. It began with, “May I never get over the fact that…” and then went on to describe some aspect of a person’s salvation in Christ. Each aspect mentioned was accompanied by beautiful scenery and serene music in the background. That was one reel I certainly didn’t mind playing over and over again in my head.

In fact, when I began my prayer time the next day, that same phrase came back to me as I prayed through the Lord’s prayer.

Our Father in heaven…may I never get over the fact that the God of the universe has chosen to set His love on me; as a daughter of the King, I’m absolutely secure, perfectly safe, and well-supplied – all the resources of Your storehouse are at my disposal for kingdom good; You’ve promised that one day, “the dwelling place of God” will be with men, and You “will live among them” – they will be Your people, and You Yourself “will be with them and be their God” (Revelation 21:3).

Hallowed be Your name…may I never get over the fact that You’re all-powerful, all-wise, and ever-present; Your ways are higher than my ways, Your thoughts than my thoughts (Isaiah 55:9b); You’re worthy “to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” (Revelation 5:12b)

Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…may I never get over the fact that Your plan has always been to dwell among Your people; all of history is leading to the time when Your kingdom is established on earth; the Day is coming when everything that’s right and true and pure and noble and beautiful and holy and good – as it is in heaven – will be the essence of the world and of every heart.

Give us today our daily bread…may I never get over the fact that You already know what I need before I even ask; Your manna for me has been perfectly portioned out for the day at hand; my soul will never lack for “bread from heaven,” and the “What is it?” is fully known by You – I can fully trust that what You’ve provided is exactly what will meet my needs. (Exodus 16:4-15)

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors…may I never get over the fact that You, a perfect, holy, just God, forgave this selfish, lost girl and brought her back into relationship with her Creator; Your Son Jesus gives me the heart to forgive others as He forgave me and covered my trespasses with His blood; Your Holy Spirit gives me the power to forgive as I’ve been forgiven and fills me with grace to love and bless my enemies, for I was once an enemy of God but have been reconciled through Christ.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one…may I never get over the fact that You go before me, “You hem me in behind and before” (Psalm 139:5a), and You are my Protector against “the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12); “greater is He that is in (me) than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4b); the Holy Spirit enables me to be self-controlled and alert, vigilant against the enemy of my soul. (1 Peter 5:8)

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever…may I never get over the fact that “the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1a); “You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power…Nothing is too hard for you.” (Jeremiah 32:17); one day, “at the name of Jesus every knee (will) bow…and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Ephesians 2:10a-11).

Amen…may I never get over the fact that what You’ve ordained will come to pass; Your Word reveals and seals Your promises and plans; “No matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ” (2 Corinthians 1:20a).

Friends, may we never get over the fact that our God loves us fully, eternally, and unquestionably! In Jesus’ beautiful Name, yes and amen!
