A Prayer for Resurrection Sunday…
Omnipotent God, I can only imagine the cosmic roar as life overpowered death – resurrection! The head of the serpent was crushed by the Son of Man – the curse reversed!
I can only imagine the heavy hearts of the women on the walk to the tomb and the confusion of finding it unguarded – and the stone rolled away. Where was Jesus?!
I can only imagine the fear as angels appeared, causing the women to fall face down in response. What could this mean?!
I can only imagine the crazy joy as the words of the angels slowly sank in. “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!”
I can only imagine how quickly the women ran to tell the grief-stricken disciples about a stone, an empty tomb, and an encounter with angels. Good news traveled fast that day!
Thousands of years later, the Good News still travels fast!
Thirsty souls still seek out Living Water. Sin-soaked lives are still washed white as snow in the blood of the Lamb. Hearts are still astonished by the scandalous love of a holy God, and they fall at the feet of the Savior Who died for them and rose again.
Lord, let me never lose the joy of Resurrection Sunday! May I be a faithful witness to the Good News. May I walk in the confidence and freedom that the events of this holy weekend purchased for me – victory over sin, reconciliation to You, and the fear of the grave swallowed in eternal life!
Because of Jesus Christ,
Your Child
