Pocket Thoughts - 4/10/26
Hi, friends! Just popping in with a little update on the format and scheduling of the Pocket Thoughts feature of November Roses. I’m a busy girl so I’m making the assumption that you’re busy as well. Pocket Thoughts was always intended to just be a few snippets of thoughts on various Bible passages and a prayer, but I bet you’ve noticed that I tend to get a little long-winded. 😉 So I’m scaling back and sending out a shorter version of Pocket Thoughts here and there rather than regular Friday scheduling - as a blessing to us both. May the Lord continue to be honored in every word and thought shared in this space.
With humility and gratitude ~ Tiffany

The Israelites had resettled in Jerusalem after a 70-year exile to Babylon. They were unfocused in purpose and disheartened in spirit. The Jerusalem they’d left behind was nothing like the deserted, ramshackle city to which they’d returned. Enter Zechariah – a prophet of God. He arrived on the scene with encouragement to strengthen the people, comfort for them in their distress, and motivation to get them back on track both spiritually and in the rebuilding of the city. God sent seven visions and prophecies for the Israelites through Zechariah. In one of the visions, Zechariah encountered two angels. The first angel held a measuring line and was on his way to measure Jerusalem. To measure the city was symbolic of the rebuilding of its foundation both spiritually and physically. As the angel was leaving, a second angel arrived with a message from God. That message was God’s declaration that Jerusalem would flourish so bountifully that walls would be unable to contain the great number of people and animals that would live there. Jerusalem would be a “city without walls” because its abundance would overflow! God Himself would be a wall of fire around the city, and He would be its glory within. What a sight to imagine! And what a great source of hope this prophecy was to the weary, worn out returned exiles - to imagine a beautiful city full of God’s people, protected by the Lord Himself and full of His glory! And what a great source of hope for us, brothers and sisters! This prophecy was also for a Day yet to come when we, too, will enter the beautiful city of God! When life here in this foreign country brings discouragement and disillusionment, set your heart on your true Homeland. The Day is coming when we will be there! Take heart, and keep hope alive. God has promised us, and He is faithful.

Father, You are the Faithful One Who sees the weariness of Your people and responds with comfort, grace, and mercy. You pour courage into our empty hearts and stand true to Your promises. You are our hope. We confess how easily we forget Your strength and goodness toward us and how easily we capitulate to fear and despair. Thank You for the promise of a Day to come when You will gather us into the beautiful city of God! We look forward to dwelling in Your glory and presence for all eternity. Lead us by Your Spirit as we journey through this life, keeping our eyes fixed on You – our trustworthy God. In the beautiful Name of Jesus, amen.
